If you follow this pin code it would lead you to one of the most unconventional slums in Mumbai – ASALPHA.

Talking about slums adjectives like dirt, chaos, mess crop up in our heads. However, unlike other slums, Asalpha will change your perception. What is fascinating about Asalpha is that once you step into its ecosystem you will be intrigued by it’s colorful and contrasting graffitis. People sometimes call it India’s ‘Positano’.

It took 750 volunteers’ collective effort to paint 170 walls of Asalpha to make it look nothing less of an art gallery. Anyone having a proclivity towards art and design can easily connect with place. The idea behind painting these walls was to spread joy and happiness among people living there. Colours give life to a place by creating a positive and energetic atmosphere. This concept changed the perception of slums in people’s minds. 

So, like any other fashion and trend followers, we also visited this beautiful habitat to see what has been inspiring people from the past couple of years. The idea of having a photoshoot came instantly into our minds right after entering Asalpha which is apparently located on a hill.

The graffitis were so interactive and eye catching in itself which included flora and fauna, warli art, cartoon characters and what not, that the idea of a small photoshoot came instantly.

Gazing at those attractive graffitis and poppy wall colours, we forgot that we were in a slum. Photoshoot was fun, the people were cooperative, overall we can say it was a memorable day at Asalpha.

Hence, we would recommend people to definitely visit Asalpha to discover a new colourful world!
